Our objectives
The Roy Watherston Memorial Trust was established to commemorate the life, work and achievements of the late Roy Watherston, an outstanding farmer and breeder of Shorthorns and a man with a keen interest in the practical education of young people.
Any special conditions?
The Trust funds the international travel and study of young Scots to provide them with experience to benefit and further their farming practices or associated rural careers. The travel and study scholarships present a unique opportunity for broadening horizons, improving knowledge, stimulating personal development.
The Trust seeks applications from young Scottish people under thirty years of age who wish to travel abroad to study aspects of agricultural and rural industry. They should have a sound practical basis in agriculture, a related industry or the countryside on which to build using the experience to be gained by travel.
On their return they should be able to demonstrate that they can use the experience in a practical way.
Awards are made three times a year.
