The Woodland Trust is the country’s largest woodland conservation charity with more than 500,000 members and supporters and more than 1,000 sites, covering over 26,000ha, all over the UK.
The Trust protects and campaigns to:
- plant trees and woods to combat climate change, build a greener future for the UK and create havens for wildlife;
- restore the irreplaceable ecosystems of damaged ancient woodlands so wildlife can thrive once again;
- protect woods and trees from decimation, standing against the needless destruction of woodland, and lead the fight against tree pests and diseases;
- care for over 1,000 woodland sites for the public’s benefit, and inspire a love of trees and woodlands for generations to come.
The Trust’s Green Tree Schools Award encourages schools to celebrate trees by rewarding them for completing environmental projects and encouraging outdoor learning. The free Award scheme helps to enhance a school’s green credentials while inspiring youngsters about woods and trees. More than 16,000 schools are taking part in the Green Tree Schools Award.
