SRUC

Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC) delivers comprehensive skills, education and business support for Scotland’s land-based industries, founded on world class and sector-leading research, education and consultancy. We have been formed by the merger of Barony, Elmwood and Oatridge College and SAC. SRUC is a member of Landex.

SRUC is an innovative, knowledge-based organisation which supports the development of the land-based industries and communities through specialist research and development, education and training and expert consultancy and advice services. Its work is wide ranging but there is a particular emphasis on agriculture and related sciences, rural business development and management, food chain quality and safety and rural resource and environmental management.

SRUC operates across a range of campuses, as well as via 26 Farm Business Service Offices, eight veterinary disease surveillance centres and five experimental farms. Outside Scotland, the business now operates from offices in Kendal, York and Wooler.

Our mission is to enhance the rural economy and environment.

Our research for the rural sector covers a broad range. For SRUC it includes work that contributes to improving the sustainability of agriculture and food supply chains, enhancing animal health and welfare, providing tools for better environmental management and contributing to the sustainability of rural communities.

SRUC Consulting provides leading edge, independent and impartial advice to the rural sector and associated industries.

SRUC provides the widest choice of courses in subjects relating to the rural and land-based sectors. Our high quality vocational courses are designed in consultation with industry.
