The School of Natural and Environmental Sciences (NES) provides a distinctive breadth of subjects and specialisms including: Agriculture, Animal Science and Applied Plant Science.
The school also includes the Institute for Agri-Food Research and Innovation (IAFRI)which delivers research and innovation to benefit the agricultural, food and environmental sectors. This is jointly owned and operated with Fera Science Ltd.
Our cutting edge research extends across the spectrum of food science and human health, agricultural science and management, soil and environmental science, rural economy and society, food and product marketing. The school houses two internationally renowned research groups: the Centre for Rural Economy and Nafferton Ecological Farming Group. Researchers within the school are associated with the multidisciplinary Newcastle Institute for Research on Sustainability.
We offer high quality undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well as higher degrees by research across the whole spectrum of subjects, as well as agricultural business support and outreach activities.
