Our objectives
LEAF (Linking Environment And Farming) promotes environmentally responsible farming. We support farmers to produce good food with care and to high environmental standards, identified in-store by the LEAF Marque logo. We build public understanding and trust of food and farming in a number of ways including Open Farm Sunday and visits to our national network of Demonstration Farms.
LEAF enables farmers to take up Integrated Farm Management (IFM) by providing them with a detailed self-assessment audit of their farm which helps them to set targets to improve their business while enhancing the environment. LEAF also produces a wide range of technical information on IFM and organises workshops, discussion forums and field days
LEAF demonstrates IFM principles through a nationwide network of volunteer Demonstration Farms carrying out IFM and showing other farmers how to adopt it. They provide living and working examples of how Integrated Farming can produce affordable food in harmony with the environment.
LEAF’s governing body is an Advisory Board made up of some thirty members representing national government departments, farmers, supermarkets, conservation, environmental and consumer groups, educational establishments and industry bodies. The Board of Trustees oversees all matters relating to LEAF’s charitable status including finance, personnel and legal issues.
LEAF has merged with FACE and formed LEAF Education.
