Bishop Burton College, including Riseholme College, is one of the most successful land-based colleges in the country. The specialist Further Education (FE) and Higher Education (HE) College is located across campuses in East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire, and specialises in vocational hands-on teaching. Bishop Burton College is a Landex member.
Our breadth of offering spans myriad land-based subjects and covers all levels; from entry level through to master’s degree programmes.
Provision is offered in all key sectors of land-based work, including agriculture, animal management, engineering and equine to name but a few and has recently invested in state-of-the-art sports provision to widen the offering even further.
Bishop Burton is the only college in the country to be a Centre of Vocational excellence in both agriculture and equine, and Riseholme College is itself an Association of Colleges (AoC) Beacon Award winner for practical teaching and learning.
A commitment to practical work experience on all courses and wider participation is a distinctive feature of the college. The college’s commercial enterprises play a key role in providing students with real-life working environments, as does the college’s focus on work placement and ensuring students complete their studies with the practical, and most up-to-date, skills needed to enter the workplace.
This contributes to some of the highest success rates in the country, with 97% of FE students and 93% of HE students progressing to employment or a higher level of study within six months of completing their course
